Threading at LA

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

threadingThere’s nothing worse than a hairy monobrow or eyebrows which sit on your eyes and drag your whole face down.

We teach our students how to apply the funkiest eye colours but you also need to think about the shape of the eyebrow. Celebs travel all over the world to find the perfect shape for their eyebrows.

While waxing is still the favourite for many people, we also offer threading. If you haven’t tried this yet, you really should! A long-time favourite of Indian women this skill can now be found all over Europe and the States.

Students on our Beauty Therapy Course learn how to take the special thread between their fingers and sweep away stray hairs leaving a perfect line every time. It’s less damaging to the skin than waxing and less risk of stretching the delicate skin around eyes clients’ eyes.

You can read more about threading on Beaut.ie where they also recommended us; thanks girls!

Or if you don’t want to take the Beauty Therapy course, why not try the shorter Threading and Henna Design course? You can learn to create fantastic henna tattoos for photoshoots or special occasions; they’re temporary and so versatile. The one-day course costs €400 so give us a call if you’re interested!

How do you take care of your eyebrows?

January 2010 at LA make-up Academy

Friday, January 29th, 2010

dsc_5433aIt’s been a busy month for students and tutors here at LA Make-Up. In spite of the snow and incredibly cold weather in Dublin and London we’ve managed to cram in tons of exciting events.

The Dublin school is moving premises from Dame Street over to Chatham Street. We’ll have bigger rooms with even more space for students to work together with a library packed full of make-up books.  And we held an Open Evening to talk about the new LA make-up Beauty Therapy course. It was great to meet so many of you and find out what you want from the course. We still have a few places left so contact us soon if you want to sign up! Plus we had some celeb moments like doing Olly Murs make-up when he was over knitting for Xpose! Swoon – yes, he is just as cute as on de telly. We’ve been getting ready for our big launch in London. It’s really exciting and we’ll be telling you all about those classes soon. Our Module Two students finished up last week. We were sad to see them go but excited that another bunch of talented make up artists are about in Dublin. Looking forward to seeing them again soon for their photoshoots! If you’re interested in taking any of our make-up courses contact us at the Dublin office here or on Facebook!

What did you get up to in January?

imgp2719Olly Murs was in town to launch the Vodafone Pop Up Shop and who was asked to make the lovely Olly even more lovely? That’s right,LA Make-up Academy were! Naomh Geday, our top Pro Team make-up artist went along to meet the X Factor finalist at the launch and get to work on the heartthrob.

We heard nothing but good reports about Mr.Murs. Speaking about her day with Olly, Naomh said ‘he was a pleasure to work with!’ Fingers crossed we all have a chance of bumbing into him the next time he’s visiting Dublin’s Fair City.
