When you’re training as a professional make-up artist, applying make-up to other people can seem strange at first. We know you’ll be great at it but it does take time and lots of practice to get it right! And definitely applying liquid eyeliner in a perfect swoop takes time.
The first step is to watch your tutors carefully during the demonstration part of the lessons. Don’t be shy – stand up and get up close to them so you can see what they’re doing. Honestly; something simple like how your hold the pencil can make a huge difference to the final look. And don’t just practice during classes; we’re sure your non-makeup friends will be excited to be your guinea pigs! Try lots of different shapes and don’t be afraid to experiment. Take a look at how great blue liner can be in these celeb pics on The Style Bitches blog or the cat eye shapes underneath.
Black and brown eyeliner are great but you’d be surprised how a little blue or even green can make your client’s eyes pop right out; she’ll love you!
Try the blue Crayon Khol from Lancôme for an affordable treat at €16.50 or grab a bargain with the Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner for practicing. Then when you’re feeling more confident you can go for the more up-market brands! The sky’s the limit but we do love MAC as you know!
What do you find the hardest about applying eyeliner when you’re with clients?
