Pixie For Lipsy!

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Pixie Lott was in central London on Tuesday 28th September, for the opening of her new Lipsy collection in House of Fraser. I went down to the event as I am a fan of Lipsy clothes, but wanted to see what Pixie’s touch was to the range.

As soon as I arrived there was press everywhere and of course many ‘fashionistas’, all wanting a glimpse of Pixie and the new collection. She finally arrived in a gorgeous black lace top smock dress, matched with a large black hat and knee high stockings, with cute flat shoes to add to her naughty but neat look.

I took a few exclusive pictures and browsed around the collection where I found a few gorgeous pieces that I would like to share with you all…

This is a lovely Pixie cornelli trim fan sleeve dress, very detailed yet not OTT and could be worn casually or even for a night out. I love the lace detail and the touches around the edges, it would work nicely with knee high socks or tights and boots, maybe even throw on a leather jacket for a biker look or alternatively with a faux fur jacket for that glam look.

£55 – www.lipsy.co.uk

Another one of my favourites is this cat suit from the Pixie collection. A very unique piece as it has a drape back with an attached charm necklace at the front and wide leg detail. Its all about cat suits this season, so add this ‘must have’ to your wardrobe!

£65 – www.lipsy.co.uk

As faux fur is everywhere now, Pixie has also added one to her new collection. This is a Dalmatian print, cosy long haired jacket and is also seen worn by Pixie Lott in her new video ‘Broken Arrow’. Which ever garment you choose to wear from Lipsy this stunning long-haired faux fur jacket could just be thrown on.

£80 – www.lipsy.co.uk

Calling All Shoe Lovers!

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Finally the biggest shoe gallery in the world has arrived in no other than the hottest city and store in the world, Selfridges, London.  Opening the most mouth-watering, shoe dazzling, every-woman’s-dream shoe world!

The amazing shoe department is combined by pieces from high-line designer to the hottest high street labels around. Every woman is definitely spoilt for choice with hot-shot pieces from Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Balmain, Giuseppe Zanotti, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Marc Jacobs and the queen of them all and my ultimate favourites, Christian Louboutin, but these are just a few of the many to say the least.

After drooling row after row, shelf after stand of gorgeous shoes, the trend for this season was starting to become pretty apparent to me. The heels seem to be getting higher and higher each year, it’s as if each brand is competing to see who can sport the highest stilettos. Different designs and colours of ankle boots in suede or leather, with and without laces, (though laces seem to be what’s ‘in’ right now), is what dominated the shoe gallery. I have picked a few of my favourite pieces to share with you…

Giuseppe Zanotti

Very casual yet gorgeous brown coloured suede boots with laces and even a zip. A bold black platform and heel, they also feature a high end where the rims can be folded. These would go very nicely with tucked in denims or khaki trousers.

£650   www.giuseppezanottidesign.com

Christian Louboutin

A work of art again by Louboutin, who never fail to impress with these stunning killer heels. Again, in suede but olive coloured boots, with flannel and metal and the trademark red heel. I would choose to wear these babies all by them self, because nothing can compete with these unique pieces.

£695   www.christianlouboutin.com

Louis Vuitton

A chic sophisticated thick high heeled beauty by Louis Vuitton, for that sophisticated office city working chick. These comfortable yet stylish beauties are two tone coloured in dark and light brown leather with a camel lining underneath to bring out those yummy chocolate colours. The shoes are finished nicely with a bold dark brown bow at the front to give them that extra LV touch. A stunning classic master piece by Louis Vuitton.

£1, 750    www.louisvuitton.com

London Fashion Week Highlights

Monday, September 27th, 2010

London Fashion Week started off with a glitter festival for the Spring/Summer 2011 make up trends, yes, the 70’s are back! From Mark Fast to Sophy Robson to Giles who were flashing the run way with their explosive glitter glammed girls.
Giles, focused on two different shades of blue glitter that were drawn all the way up, around and over the brow finishing off his look with silky bright red stained lips.

Designers Mary Katrantzou, Osman, Micheal Van Der Ham and Richard Nicoll all opted for the striking coloured palettes, from yellows to oranges, blues greens and pinks. Katrantzou selected a different bright side for the eyes of each of her dolls, but stuck with the chalky baby pink lips.

Rimmel created the looks of gorgeous Miami Beach glamour girls by using lots of bronzer and some shiny highlighter around the face and even on the cupid bow of the lips, with a slick of pink lip-gloss. As for the eyes, Rimmel went all out by using tons of mascara and concentrating on the copper tones for the eye shadow, creating the perfect bronze goddess.

Smoky and smudgy was the theme of the Marc Jacobs looks for Spring/ Summer 2011, dark brown and black smoulded eyes, wiped out eyebrows with foundation and blood red lips with a touch of bright blush in the centre of each cheek.

To end the colour-bursting theme for the season, Burberry decided to keep it cool, calm and clean. The Burberry look was unique using nude lips and suttle tones with a slight rock ‘n’ roll edge by using the new collection from Burberry Beauty. What better way to end the show then to have it in true British style!

What was your favourite look of this years London Fashion Week?

Marilyn’s famous red lip

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

One of my favourite eras has to be the 1950′s.
I love the style, glamour and the elegance that was the 1950′s.

Of course everyone knows the blonde bombshell of this era is Marilyn Monroe and her look is still recreated today.
The striking full ruby red lips, the flawless skin that was heavily powdered and the winged eyeliner that is worn by so many people to this day (myself included).

Scarlett Johanssen is a girl who loves her 1950′s make-up both on the red carpet and for every day wear. Scarlett wears it so well that she got chosen as the face for Dolce & Gabanna’s new 2010 Fall Makeup Collection.

Also Katherine Heigl works the 1950′s look for the red carpet with her beautiful pin-up blonde curls and ruby rouge striking lips.

So whether you are walking the high street or walking the red carpet, why not give the 1950′s look a try. Be bold and try that red lip. You will be so glad you did.
