Best Dressed of 2010 – Carey Mulligan

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

After much anticipation, and all the judging by experts as well as several top magazines, the chosen Best Dressed of the year 2010 went to Carey Mulligan.  Mulligan was crowned after having a jam packed year full of fashion and fame. Her choice in the pieces she chose to wear at events and awards is what made her stand out from other stars, all the outfits were winners in their own ways.

See what you make of Carey’s choices…

Prada

Carey first got everyone talking when she chose this one off exclusive Prada dress. The dress was a vintage piece, detailed in old images and cut out in a ballerina style gown.

Chanel

The actress was also spoted in this chic Chanel number. This boat-neck dress shows off Carey’s slim figure well and clearly proves that she has ditched her old ‘young girl’ look.

Vionnet

Another flattering gown Carey wore was this couture dress from Vionnet that had a laced upper half and a 70′s style skirt.  The classic look gave her the ‘Audrey Hepburn’ title of today.

Peter Pilotto

A very unique choice that won her the overall 2010 fashion queen was her choice of Peter Pilotto’s sparkly number! This cute but yet again vintage look, gave Carey a thumbs up as she wore a winning piece that is simple yet original.

Who in your eyes deserves Fashion Queen 2010?

Well there you have it, 2010 a definite year to remember all the glitz and glam, packed with gorgeous pieces and 2011 will sure bring more fashion surprises!

Have a Fashionable New Year everyone!

More of Tom Ford’s S/S ’11

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

More pictures of Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection have been distributed, as well as being shown off on major catwalk’s that were modelled by celebrities including Beyonce! First revealed was Steven Meisels images of the ’70s inspired garments that I blogged about. Then came catwalk shots of Ford’s ‘Swans’ strutting their stuff in his custom-made creations. Next, Lara Stone’s interpretation which caused an almighty fash-off. Finally it’s a supermodels models turn; Julia Restoin Roitfield who’s showing off more of the collection….

Julia Restoin Roitfield

Another 70′s inspired dress from Tom Ford’s S/S ’11 collection is this couture-like piece that is created with black velevet and a shifon upper half, where it also tightens at the waist showing off Julia’s beautiful curves. This gorgeous classic image is unique in that Julia photographs herself, and does it perfectly by showing off Tom’s stunning design.

Beyonce

Bootilicious beauty Beyonce is photographed here modelling a piece of the new collection. This sparkling number from Tom Ford make’s Beyonce’s amazing figure stand out in all the right ways. Tom’s collection is full of knee length dresses, all created for the perfect 70′s look, and this dress is detailed with sequins and beads from top to bottom finely created by Tom Ford, a beautiful piece.

Rita Watson

At 54 years old Mrs Watson is looking flawless in Tom Ford’s piece that add’s glamour to her young looks. This see-through black number works well for Rita’s petite figure and certainly proves that you can be any age to show off Ford’s gorgeous designs.

Who will be the next to dare wear Tom Ford’s creations? We’ll have to wait and see…

Anja Rubik for Mango

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

Pictures of the new collection from Mango have just been revealed and worlds supermodel Anja Rubik is the new face of the brand. She models for hot labels such as Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, as well as high street brands, H&M and Zara. The beautiful pictures of the Autumn/Winter 2011 range have been photographed by Terry Richardson, both who worked so well together to produce these images and ofcourse show off the brand new 70′s collection…take a look…

First image of the range is this retro outfit, a long flowing dirty red skirt that is a popular colour this season, worn with a tanned coloured t-shirt with a faux fur jacket and matched with the tanned scruffed up boots and a small leather rucksack. The thick heeled boots make it safe for a casual look that can be worn everyday, everywhere.

Second outfit worn here by Anja, consists of small checked shorts with a over-sized sheep skin jacket and a tanned saddle bag that is again matched with those thick heeled boots.

The third image is of a evening outfit, which is of this patterned see-through shirt with an attached bow-tie detail, worn with grey shorts and a chain strap, small black shoulder bag.

The last image that has been previewed is this office look. Mango stick to the same colours throughout the new collection with the tanned and the red shades. Here we see a knee length leather tanned skirt held up with a thick brown waist belt, matched with a dirty red shirt, again with bow-tie detail and also a large red jacket and a dirty pink shoulder bag. Definitley a look for the chic business lady.

What do you make of the new 70′s range? Hate it or Love it?

2010 Most Iconic Dresses!

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

There may have been some pretty dresses but there were also those ugly ones that left a huge mark in the fashion world, they were spoken about constantly, copied and became somewhat iconic..With fans loving and hating what their favourites chose to wear.

Take a look at a few of the 2010 iconic dresses…

Lady GaGa

Lady GaGa’s known for her crazy gowns but this was the iconic dress of the year from GaGa- the weird meat dress. Not known if the meat was real or fake, she shocked the world when she stepped into the MTV Video Music Awards this year in this rotten piece! The outfit will always be labelled as a fashion faux and most talked about, probably the reason why GaGa chose to wear it!

Katy Perry

From her California Gurl’s video and onto the carpet and various events, Katy Perry’s look of the bright latex dresses appeared to become a trend that she’d set not only for herself but now also being worn by a few A-listers too! This dress pictured was the most popular of her latex collection,  replica’s of this mini latex dress were being produced shortly after her appearence in it.

Cheryl Cole

UK’s sweetheart, Ms Cheryl Cole was the first to appear in this Julien McDonald’s fabulous dress. Soon after other celebrities also wore this gown, one of them being singer and actress Cher for the Burlesque London Premiere that made this designers dress a definate iconic piece of 2010.

Weird, wacky and wonderful are the dresses of 2010!

Best Red Carpet Dresses of 2010

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

2010 has been a year filled with extreme fashion, with amazing designs and styles non stop! The Red Carpet is always the best place to spot the hottest gowns, from the Cinderellas to the crazy GaGa outfits…here are a few of my faves of 2010…

Valentino

My first favourite piece is this beautiful dress was worn by actress Anne Hatherway at the Oscars this year. This Valentino dress from the pre-fall collection made her look spell-binding and so magical, especially with all its glitter and sequins and the stunning volumised detail. Definitley a stunner!

Armani Prive

Jennifer Lopez blew everyone away at the Oscars aswell, with the choice of this Armani Prive gown. It looked like she had been wrapped in falling snow, binding together to create this dazzling dress that looked perfect on her. Jenny from the block who? Jenny from the ball more like ;) loved it!

Armani Prive

From the same collection as the previous dress worn by J-Lo, I totally loved this dress worn by Amanda Seyfried, again for the Oscar Awards 2010. This  was a special piece because it was a Swarovski-encrusted frock,  making Amanda’s dress a little more special then J-Lo’s, but both stunning in their own ways. Armani Prive certainly won me over with their S/S ’10 collection!

I guess the Oscar awards always brings out the best in designers and the best of the celebrities tastes, and mine just happened to lean more towards the volumous, striking, over the top gowns… loved the princess looks for sure!
