To celebrate the launch of our ITEC Honors Diploma in Beauty Therapy, LA Make-Up Academy have joined forces with world renound skincare specialists Dermalogica for a pretty amazing competition.

LA Academy are the first college in Ireland to offer this course with an ITEC accreditation & we are so proud of this that we are offering one lucky person the chance to win a year’s supply of Dermalogica products.

Dermalogica started off by prescribing their products to customers with problem skin & gained so much notoriety with the amazing results they produce that they gradually entered the market for over-the-counter products.

For you, what are the 5 best things in life?

1.       Make-up – serious obsession of mine, the wackier the better I say!!!

2.       Family – wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

3.       Friends – the best (and the worst) influences in my life.

4.       Food – cooking is a bit of a passion of mine.

5.       Freedom – I like the choice of doing or going anywhere, any time.

Who inspires you?

My parents.  My dad, for giving me the best start in life.  He always believed in me and helped me to get to where I am today.  My mam, for her continuous support through the good and the not so good and for being there when I needed hair to be waxed!!

What is the one thing you could not live without?

People!!  Being alone terrifies me!!  Love having people in my life that I can have fun with.

What is the best thing about college life at LA?

Everything!  The girls in my class are amazing, talented people and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet them.  The tutors and staff of LA are very welcoming and helpful with any problem that may arise.

If you could work as a make-up artist for one celebrity who would it be and why?

This is a toughie…  I’d have to say Sara Jane in LA Makeup Academy.  Not because she has bad make-up but because I’d say she would like someone to pamper her for a change!!!

What is your dream for the future?

Travel.  It has been a dream of mine since I was a child to visit different countries and see different cultures.  I would love to have the opportunity to be able to combine my two loves in life, beauty and travel.

January 2010 at LA make-up Academy

dsc_5433aIt’s been a busy month for students and tutors here at LA Make-Up. In spite of the snow and incredibly cold weather in Dublin and London we’ve managed to cram in tons of exciting events.

The Dublin school is moving premises from Dame Street over to Chatham Street. We’ll have bigger rooms with even more space for students to work together with a library packed full of make-up books.  And we held an Open Evening to talk about the new LA make-up Beauty Therapy course. It was great to meet so many of you and find out what you want from the course. We still have a few places left so contact us soon if you want to sign up! Plus we had some celeb moments like doing Olly Murs make-up when he was over knitting for Xpose! Swoon – yes, he is just as cute as on de telly. We’ve been getting ready for our big launch in London. It’s really exciting and we’ll be telling you all about those classes soon. Our Module Two students finished up last week. We were sad to see them go but excited that another bunch of talented make up artists are about in Dublin. New Career for a New You in 2010?

The New Year is coming. 2009 has been a strange year; a difficult one for many of us but we’ve all survived! And what better time than January to think about starting a new path in life?

1.    The Beauty Therapy Course starts in February in Dublin. 7.    The LA Start your own Business course shows you how to take all that makeup knowledge and turn it into a successful career.

LA Beauty Therapy Coming January 2010

Isn’t it great to see the sun shining? We love this time of year; there is so much happening in the make-up world with the change over to winter looks.

And of course it’s the perfect time to start new courses and learn some exciting new skills for next year.


As you know we already offer a selection of training courses for make-up artists that will take you from complete beginner at Module 1 to fully-qualified artist at the end of Module 3. We also offer a Start Your Own Business course so you can get the most out of your new knowledge.



And if there’s one thing we’ve learnt from doing all of this and offering services like LA White for Brides, is that make-up is just part of the package. To really look fabulous we all need to concentrate equal attention on every part of our look.

Which is why we’re launching a brand-new Beauty Therapy Course. This course will deliver the same high standards you’ve come to expect from our make-up courses but with a whole new focus.

Of course we know the beauty industry is ever-changing so we’ll be on the look out for new products and treatments all the time. Beauty is glamorous but creating that special look means understanding a lot of science and technology. If you learn with us, we’ll take the complications away so you’ll know exactly what to do. So as you work through the course with us, we’ll introduce new topics if we think they can help you on your path.
