Who wore it best? Rihanna v. Caroline Sieber

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

In one of our previous blogs, Sheer Perfection, we told you that sheer would be in this summer! And here are two very stylish ladies, rocking the sheer trend this summer.

Rihanna, famous for her daring outfits, wore this sheer Chanel dress when she graced the cover of Vogue in April of this year, pairing it with fiery red hair and matching lips for a bold, glamorous look. The dress perfectly suited Rihanna’s body, hugging her curves.

Four months later, the uber-stylish Caroline Sieber wore this dress to the Chanel Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 show at Paris Fashion Week. Caroline, one of the LA Team‘s favourite stylists, went for a more subdued look. She wore minimal makeup and let her shiny brown tresses hang loosely around her shoulders. Her only accessory was a small gold belt.

Choosing between these two ladies is a very difficult task! Rihanna’s body looks amazing in this dress but Caroline actually wore it to an event, which takes serious confidence as the dress is head to toe sheer!

Let us know what you think!

Who wore it best? Blake v. Alexa

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

One fashionista takes on another. So in this week’s “Who Wore It Best?” we are asking you which one of these style icons gets your vote.

Blake Lively and Alexa Chung both stepped out wearing the navy Chanel dress but both bring their own unique style to the outfit.

Blake Lively, Gossip Girl’s Serena and new face of Chanel, is a big fan of Chanel on and off camera. She stepped out in this ensemble for last year’s New York Cinema Society Screening. She definitely stood out on the red carpet with this sheer midriff mini dress.  She teamed the dress with nude Louboutins, keeping the look simple and elegant with statement earrings and a high ponytail.

Britain’s style queen Alexa Chung was spotted wearing this dress a few months later, sitting front row at this year’s Chanel Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show. She took a completely different take on this outfit, teaming it with black patent loafers for a more casual look.

2 stylish celebrities, 1 designer dress, 2 very different looks. Let us know who you think wins this! Who wore it best- Blake or Alexa?

Wearing Corals this Summer

Monday, April 19th, 2010

makeupschool-in-london-makeup-coralsWe are loving coral this season – eyes, lips and nails! It’s a great way to add some romantic colour to a look! It was The trend on catwalk shows like Dries Van Norten, Chanel and Prada.

Nails: Try this dreamy coral polish Tart Decco from Essie. Gentle enough to look great on Irish skin but still on-trend.

Blusher: Where else to catch that summer sun but on the apples of your cheeks. Coralista from Benefit will give you a pink shimmer – great for Monday morning skin!

Eye Shadow:  Tip One is that you can use the blusher above as a light shadow. And otherwise try the coral shades from our beloved MAC PRO palettes.

Lips: For a gentle stab at this on-trend colour start with the MAC Lipglass Lychee Luxe. When you’re ready for the Full Coral, try this sizzling coral from Chanel les Pop-Up de Chanel Sonia Rykiel’s model all had a sexy coral pout.

Just remember don’t layer it on too thickly! Especially with the blusher – avoid the Aunt Sally look unless you’re creating funky catwalk style! Plus if you can’t decide which coral shade to go for, maybe you could try the Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals and have it all!

Chanel Heads East…

Friday, April 16th, 2010

chanel1As the overload of talk about volcanoes causing the world to basically shut down, I finally found some much needed solitude last night while flicking through this months Marie Claire. Well, I was in awe as I stumbled across a little article on my beloved Chanel, so thought id share with you!
My love for all things Chanel can go far and beyond, lets just say I’m a little obsessed, but who isn’t, have you seen the highstreet lately? Chanel pieces are echoed everywhere from pumps in Penny’s to tweed jackets in Topshop! As far as runway shows go and limited edition collections, Chanel’s maestro Karl Langerfeld never fails to disappoint.
Fast forward his latest creation, a collection of Chinese inspired accessories to celebrate the 2010 Shanghai World Expo on May 1st, 3 words, exceptional, extraordinary and extravagant!

chanel41The fabulous accessories include handbags, necklace, bracelets as well as earrings. Karl Langerfeld also introduced some different metaphor into his stunning designs, injecting classical and legendary Chinese elements into the collection, including a dragon totem, tassels dressed as bracelets and necklaces that vividly show the distinctive and decorative culture of China. The accessories are low key yet beautiful, while incorporating a touch of humor to a unique and classical brand.
chanelbag1My ULTIMATE fave has to be this incredible handbag based on a takeaway box from Chinese cuisine (only Karl) made of metal covered with cloth and of course the Chanel classical metallic chain. Not to forget these earrings in the shape of traditional dolls.

The Special Limited Edition collection will debut at Chanel’s five Chinese boutiques in May. What more could a girl want, a Chanel handbag and Chinese takeaway combined in such a chic but quirky way, oh so Karl! 壯觀
