Little Mix in the style stakes!

Monday, December 12th, 2011

Well it’s the event that truly marks the beginning of Christmas, the X-Factor final aired last night with all the glitz & glamour you would expect from the biggest show on tv right now.

Over the past few years, the X-factor has become so much more than just a singing competition in the minds of the viewers.

Little Mix along with their mentor Tulisa, have been crowned the champions of 2011 & looking back over the past season we can really see how they have evolved into stars in the last few weeks,

From grunge to glam the girls have really stepped up their style in the last few weeks, singing with their mentor Tulisa, Little Mix looked clean & polished like they were born for the stage.

The band had some stiff competition to win the coveted title fighting off Marcus Collins & Amelia Lily who was eliminated in Saturdays semi-final after an outstanding duet with Kelly Rowland.

Fashion in the City!

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

It’s exciting times for fashion lovers in Dublin. For anyone considering a career in the fashion industry it would have been assumed that you would have to travel abroad to study. Thanks to the wonderful people at Re-dress & of course the LA Team, this is no longer the case!

Dublin has an up & coming fashion scene & the LA Team are here to shine a little light on the subject & keep all you fashionistas informed whether its about new trends, up & coming designers or even fashion courses.

Re-dress was founded in 2008 with the mission to increase awareness in Ireland around ethical & environmentally sound purchasing. Founded by Rosie O’Reilly, Kellie Dalton & Kate Nolan, the aim was to promote the recycling of clothes & other textiles.

They offer a range of short courses & workshops including fashion skills, upcycling & embellishing to name a few!

Re-dress held a fashion breakfast yesterday in The Bailey Bar just off Grafton Street to launch the latest “Made in Ireland” Swing Tag to acknowledge fashion, jewelry & accessories produced in Ireland.

The swing tag will carry to ‘Made in Ireland’ logo allowing designers & retailers to promote fashion items that are produced in Ireland & will be visible in shops from the end of November.

Here at LA Studios, we think it’s about time someone gave Irish designers the recognition they deserve.

The LA Team are really looking forward to the New Year when we will be introducing our own fashion styling course! This course is FETAC accredited & will cover topics such as the history of fashion, training to be an image consultant, personal stylist, editorial stylist, visual merchandiser  & more.

Fashion Week Make-Up Inspirations!

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

fashion-weekClothes and Make-Up go together like a horse and carriage, oh wait that’s marriage isn’t it? Well the Fashion Weeks just gone by, were definitely another sign of how fashion and make-up are so closely intertwined. Designers and make-up artists in Paris, London, New York and Milan worked together to create fabulous looks! And hopefully we can help you re-create these for yourself.

As you know we have a Fashion Stylist here just waiting for you. And she’s definitely been inspired by some of the make-up looks on the catwalks this year. In New York one of our favourite brands; NARS, created an impressive tribal look for designer Thakoon using contouring and defined eyes. Any of you studying in LA Make-Up will know how important bronzer is for creating the perfect facial shape. NARS were also in action at the Marc Jacobs show where they setup the darker side of fashion so there’s lots for you to choose from in their new Spring Collection.

MAC were one of the main sponsors of the London Fashion Week so it was no surprise to see their distinctive products up and down the catwalk. Vivienne Westwood worked with them to create a strong, tribal look with delicious plum lips all set for winter and early spring. And a surprise look from many designers was the emphasis on pink eyes! Yes that would be fuchsia and grenadine giving your winter look a soft pastel shot in the arm. Ungaro even had his models in two-tone pastel lips while NARS and Lancome created lots of light eyes during the show. Just remember when you try this at home to add on lashings of macara and strong eye-liner so you don’t look like a bunny rabbit caught in the headlights! Try the Second Skin Cheek Colour in Barely Pink by Laura Mercier on the apples of your cheek if the eyes are a step too far.

Of course if you want to go even more low-key than this, the other big look for the new season is No Make-Up At All. That’s right; spend hours getting ready just to look like you’ve nothing on at all. One of our favourite make-up bloggers Fabsugar has some photos so you can see if that rocks your boat.

Do you take inspiration from the Fashion Shows or from your friends?
