LA Make-Up goes to London

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

london-eyeYes, that’s right London Town is a-calling. We have already had a really great course over there; the Ultimate Pro Intensive Course. We know those of you who went on that just loved the tutors and the whole experience.

Students worked on Airbrush techniques, catwalk and high fashion looks as well as creating looks for brides and models from different ethnic backgrounds.  They all wrapped up with a high-energy photoshoot to kick-start their portfolio. So now we’re ready to launch officially! The LA Make-Up London Academy is in St Johns so easy to access and an exciting area for students to be in. We offer the same high standards and professional tuition as we do in Dublin and LA so no matter where you study you’re guaranteed to leave ready for a successful career. There are so many opportunities for make-up artists in London that you’d be crazy not to try it.

Check back here and on the LA Facebook page for updates on the classes we will be offering in London from February 2010 .

From a Students Point of View – Module 2 by Siobhan Blacklock

Monday, December 7th, 2009

bjb9774-low-res-web-onlySiobhan Blacklock is one of LA Make-Up’s Module 2 full time students, having completed her course in November 2009.

In Siobhan’s own words, this is what she thought about our Module 2 Course:

I completed the module 2 course today. I would like to share my experience of the course. The class was quite small which meant we all got individual attention and guidence. As I had no previous make up experience I found this course to be an excellent starting point.

During the course we had five different make-up artists teaching us. This from my perspective ensured we were exposed to many different styles and techniques which I found very helpful. Each day was different and the tutors utilised their time very well. This course was also great fun and the tutors were always friendly and highly professional.

At the end of the course I got the opportunity to practise my new skills. I made up professional models for a photoshoot which will be in my portfolio. The model looked amazing, I was very confident doing the models make-up. I now hope to persue a career in make-up and I would highly recommend this course.

One of our top make-up artists, Emma Woods will direct ten models and a group to students in creating some fabulous looks! They’re going to work on Burlesque, Out of Africa and Twilight among others. Sound be a great day out for everyone. We cover face and body painting techniques on our Module 3 Make-Up Course.

We focus on makeup at LA Make-Up but hair is so key to creating a stunning look. So this week some of our Module 3 students headed off to Toni and Guy for the day. They’ve already studied hair styling so it was great to see experts in action and see how much they can do! They learned how to work with hair stylists and created some fantastic looks.

Emma Bidwell had this to say:

“At the beginning I was nervous. We had to do
make up on 2 models each, but once I started it went really well!”

And Laurrine Murphy said:

“My favourite thing from the day was meeting such a great team
from team from Toni and Guy! It was very rewarding when they loved the
make-up I did.’

You can read more from the students here.

See you at the Open Day!
