Welcome to LA TV. We have a step by step 4 part episode of how to recreate Victoria Beckhams signature makeup look. We’re nearing the end of our Victoria Beckham celebrity inspired make-up look..after watching these demos, you will be highly qualified to try and create the look yourself.
Don’t worry if you don’t have the exact products our make-up artist, Sarah Jane Wai O Flynn is using, just try and match it to a close product and a very similar look can be achieved!
The LA Make-Up tutors are always busy and we’re excited to tell you they will be even busier this year as we’re launching a One Year make-up Specialist Course. So many of our students love the Module 3 make-up course and have asked for more time so we’ve created this fab course for you.
You can read all about it on our website here. The course is really focused on developing your professional skills with lots of photoshoots and a spectacular end of year Graduation Show where our talents will be shown-off to their best advantage. The students will learn with our tutors and then travel out to work with clients under supervision. You could gain valuable experience with any of these great companies; Vodafone, Drury Communication, Samsung, Hot Press, TV Now, RTE Guide, Confetti, TV3, RTE and TG4.
We’re covering every area of the make-up industry. Subjects include practical make-up sessions but also Special Effects, customer service, hair styling and airbrushing and lots more! Students will have plenty of time to develop their talents as the course runs from September to June over five days. We’ll kick off on September 20th
Episode 4 – Celebrity Look Victoria Beckham. Part 2 of 4
Welcome to LA TV. We have a step by step 4 part episode of how to recreate Victoria Beckham’s signature makeup look. Sarah Jane Wai O Flynn works her magic and shows us her step by step guide on how to recreate look with her top tips included so keep your eyes and ears peeled! Posh’s makeup is understated, unlike her skyscraper heels.
The focus is on healthy-looking skin, nude lips and dark, sultry eye makeup. Or for day, you can do Posh-inspired smoky eye makeup that’s lighter simply by switching to pencil liner and skipping mascara. When all else fails, reach for oversized sunglasses to look like Posh as they tend to hide a multitude of flaws.

We hope everyone survived Valentine’s Weekend in one piece; loved-up or otherwise! And we’ve got plenty of goodies to keep you happy at LA Make-Up this week if you missed out on the roses.
We are delighted to welcome Astrid Kearney and Elaine Prenderville to the Dublin studios this week. Astrid has been a freelance make-up artist for over ten years; you can see her fabulous work in Vogue, ID, ELLE and magazines like Conde Nast Traveller and Marie Claire. She’s definitely rocking the celebrity listings with Sienna Miller, Lulu Guinness and Lisa B queuing up for her services. If any of you are planning on working in film, you can ask her about ‘Love Actually’ or ‘Trauma’. And Module Three make-up students working on historical make-up can get some tips thanks to her work on BBC programmes like ‘The Seven Wonders of Egypt, Greece and Rome’. You can read more on her website Astrid Kearney. She will be with us on Wednesday and Thursday February 17th and 18th.
If that isn’t enough for you, we also had one of our favourite editors; Elaine Prenderville from VIP Magazine in LA as our guest interviewer at LA Make-Up’s first 2010 ‘An Evening with..’ event, with Astrid Kearney. Elaine conducted an insightful interview that wowed the audience with great make-up and beauty tips.
Keep posted for the showreel & pics of the evening!
When I was told we would be doing our first work experience, I was excited. Then we were told it would be an event for L’oreal I was a whole lot more excited, I mean all of us have grown up watching the adverts of Jen Aniston glowing skin, Penelope Cruz amazing eyes and Cheryl Cole glossy crowning glory and we have all looked in the mirror at one stage or another flicked our hair and batted our eyelids and siad those famous words, “Because we’re worth it!”
But then the nerves,it was my first make up job, I didnt know what to expect, all these questions started swirling in my head, “what would it be like?”, “What do I wear?, “What if I mess up?, “What do I say?”, these were reassurely answered for me by my tutor, but on the day I was still nervous, but good nervous!
When we arrived, we set up our stations. We were told the event was a hair demonstration for L’oreal called an “evening of colour”, the hairstylists were creating two looks each,so we were briefed by the hairstylists on the look they wanted to achieve, I was asked to create an evening look with smokey eyes and a nude lip, so I got to work. Suddenly everything I was taught over the last few weeks was coming in to practise from choice of product and colour to making someone feel comfortable and complimenting a person face and colouring and style. It was a great feeling transforming a model, there was a buzz in the air, it was exciting there was people milling around, I enjoyed watching the looks come together and seeing my work on stage I felt very proud, I finally felt like a make-up artist!
