Heigh Ho Silver

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

highfashionSilver is a great trend to get into for Christmas. Slightly edgier than gold but still with enough glitz to get you though the night!

Silver eyes look great with cocktail hour sparkles or a tougher rock-chick late night outfit. And of course it’s perfect with your faithful Little Black Dress as you can see in these celeb photos from WhatSheWears.ie

When we work with clients we tell them that silver works best pared-down and simple; it’s a great light-reflector so just give it space to shine!

For high-glamour we recommend taking a deep silver right up to your brow-bone – sweep it over the socket area blending well for an amazing shine! Most ranges do a silver palette at this time of year. Try Bobbi Brown’s Chrome Eye shadow or start with a thin layer of Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Colour for a shimmering gleam under your brow bone.

Leave your lashes bare for a fresher look or vamp up with long lashes from DiorShow Mascara from Dior.

Give your skin a treat earlier in the day with a hot mask so that it’s glowing on the night. Use a highlighter across the apples of your cheeks to add some extra shine. And if diamonds are out this year, what’s wrong with a few baubles from Oasis or H&M? All that glitters is not gold remember!

You could even try the full Silver effect with a dress like this one over at Elle UK from Jason Wu. If you’re not sure how this will all come together for you on the night come in and see one of our Makeup Artists for an Individual Lesson!

Time to bling up your Make-Up

Monday, December 7th, 2009

highfashionThe make-up artists and students at LA Make-Up Academy just love Christmas! It’s the perfect excuse to glam up at night. We posted about our Christmas Party services earlier and now it’s time to get out the gold!

There are so many ways to add shine to your look – from your hair down to your nails. But let’s look at the face as that’s where you can really get some va-va-voom going this festive season. These are our favourite bling products from our favourite ranges!

Golden Eyes

You can’t go wrong with Bobbi Brown! We love the Metallic Cream Shadow in Antique Gold as does Vogue.

Laura Mecier’s VIP Gold for a more glittery affair.

To top off your lashes; the girls at Beaut.ie loved the Lancome Virtuose Royal Gold Mascara

You’re sure to set hearts fluttering with Shu Uemura’s Goldglam Leaf lashes.

Metallic Lips

Pucker up with MAC Glitter in 3D Gold

Golden Skin

A sun-kissed look isn’t just for summer! Add some shine to your evening look with the Clarins Gold Attraction Face Palette.

Try the girlie look with Benefit’s Pink and Gold Colour palette.

Brush on some MAC Powder Blush Trace of Gold to finish.

Of course you might not want to slap all of this on at once – a little bit of overkill ladies! So if you’re going to glam up in this Monsoon dress from WOW.ie, then check back next week for tips on how to apply these delicious products!
