LA Make-Up loving the Oscars

Monday, March 8th, 2010

sandra-bulock-make-up-look-at-the-oscars-2010Well, we stayed up way too late last night to catch the Oscar glitz. Not feeling too chirpy this morning but it was worth it! Our three favourite looks were from Sandra Bullock, Carey Milligan and Penlope Cruz. Very different looks but all sharing the new bared-back approach.

Sandra Bullock - once we got past the sensual silver dress, we loved how simple her look was. Her make-up artist is Sandra Levin and she used classic Chanel foundation CHANEL Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Make-up in Shell to give Sandra that dewy look and darkened her eyelids with brown shadows from Les Regards de CHANEL Palette. The stunning red lips were created with CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris.

Carey Mulligan could be a good model for your younger clients; notice her bleached eyebrows and the lightness of her hair-colour as well as the barely-there makeup.

Jennifer Lopez had a great look for darker skin with Nars products. Matthe Vanleeuween used Orgasm illuminator to give that soft look to hers kin, and added drama to her eyes with the new Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base and also applied the D. Gorgeous Single Eyeshadow with Brousse Duo Eyeshadow. He finished off with Crusing Lipstick and gloss.

Eye Creams for you

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

garnier-eyeThe number one request from clients is to look fresher and ahem, younger. The eyes are the place to start with this. Now it helps if everyone drinks lots of water and gets to bed early but it’s not always possible!

We’re a big fan of creams to help moisten that delicate eye area and soften any shadows. Granny-lore tells us that cold tea-bags and cucumbers work wonders but you can’t really whip out your tea-bag on a film set. So try these creams instead. Just remember to dab them on very gently, don’t poke anyone in the eye and use a tiny bead of cream. Too much and any eye shadow won’t set right afterwards.

Anyone who’s walked past Clearys on O Connell Street will have seen the new Garnier Nutritionist Caffeine Eye-Roll in the windows. Caffeine is known to help break down cellulite and this glides on to the bags for a similar effect.

If you’re willing to spend a little more, the Aveda Tourmaline Charged Eye Crème is turbo-charged with silica to deflect any shadowing and sits perfectly under the heaviest makeup. Perfect for use with models or actors.

And let’s not forget the men; Lab Series for Men have a great Instant Moisture Eye Gel which de-puff bags without leaving a tell-tale shine.

Which eye creams do you use?
