It’s all in the eyes

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Everyone wants to make their eyes pop at the Christmas party this season. The questioin is how to really make your eyes stand out & what colours will compliment you!

The first thing that will really make your look sparkle is flawless skin. Mix your foundation with a tiny drop of The Body Shop Tinted Glow Enhancer. Mixing this with your foundation will give you that coverage that you want while also giving your skin a healthy glow.

Using a primer like Urban Decay primer potion on your lids will make the colour of your eyeshadow more pigmented & will also keep your look intact for much longer. A necessity for those wild nights out!

Use a colour similar to your skin tone to create a base on your eyes & even out your skintone before coming in with the colour that will make your eyes shine bright!

Green Eyes Use a warm pink or rose tone on the crease

Brown Eyes If you have brown eyes, you are one of the lucky ones. Brown eyed girls can use any warm tone to enhance their eyes. Create a dramatic contrast between the dark shades & the whites of the eyes line the waterline with eyeliner.

Blue Eyes Warm bronze & tan shades work great to make blue eyes sparkle!

What will be your go-to party look this season?

Lady GaGa’s natural look!

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Since bursting onto the scene just a few years ago Lady GaGa has gained a reputation for being eccentric & over the top….to put it lightly.

At first there was the white blonde hair & blood red lips that made her stand out from the crowd but with her ever evolving style influencing other artists to start going a bit ‘gaga’ she had to keep stepping it up.

GaGa has always been creative in her videos, whether she is dressed in fishnets & duck tape or dressed as a man!

Her red carpet outfits have always made headlines. The now infamous meat-dress is now on display in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We have also seen her with cling-on type monster make-up & of course her arrival to the 2011 Grammy’s in an egg not unlike something from alien. She may be crazy & eccentric but at least there seems to be a theme, a method to the madness perhaps?

Lady GaGa is the latest cover star for Elle Magazine & she is glowing with a really stripped down look.

Her make-up is very minimal with muted neutral tones & she looks stunning. Her hair is very edgy while still maintaining a clean, minimal look. The mesh around her eyes brings a little bit of that GaGa edge that we are used to. She manages to look edgy while keeping the look fresh at the same time.

The LA Team are very impressed with the latest cover & we want to know what you think?

Do you love this look or do you prefer to see the monster in her?

Everyone loves getting little extras in their Christmas stocking so the LA Team have compiled a list of some great new products that we can’t wait to get our hands on!

Manuka Doctor Foaming Cleanser €15

Brand new product to the UK & Ireland, Manuka Doctor’s skincare range contains concentrated bee venom that’s guaranteed to give your skin a perk-me-up treat this winter. The venom – which is said to be nature’s equivalent of Botox – is renowned for its anti-bacterial and skin regenerating qualities, which can help brighten your skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and even make scars appear less prominent.

It works by mimicking the effects of a light bee sting, which encourages the skin to renew cells and boost collagen. This foaming cleanser is gentle enough for everyday use.

Sally Hansen has been the product of the year when it comes to instant tanning so it was only a matter of time before St Tropaz jumped on board with their own version. Launching next week, the spray gives instant colour and an airbrushed finish whilst building a natural looking tan!

Bold Lips at the AMA’s

Friday, November 25th, 2011

The focus in recent trends is all about the lips & bright, bold colours is the best way to really attract attention to your pout.

A look at the red carpet from this years American Music Awards shows us that the shades all the stars are going for are bright pinks, oranges & corals which suit most skin tones.

Katy Perry attended the awards ceremony wearing makeup created by amazing celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey. Katy’s light pink dress was a big deciding factor in her lip colour. Jake explains that he “went for a coral (orangey) red as opposed to a classic red to pick up on some accents in the dress.”

“I used a bright coral red Covergirl lip colour in flame. This was the perfect colour to pick up on the dresses coral accents and complemented her pink hair,” says Jake.

Jennifer Hudson showed off her amazing figure in a draped, metallic dress, Christian Louboutin heels & you guessed it, a bright pink lip. The striking colour added a touch of glamour to her simple look & the LA Team have already begun trying to find a match to that fantastic shade!

From the small screen to the silver screen, Katherine Heigl never fails to impress. Like Miss Hudson, Katherine went for a simple look opting for a black dress & accessories. Her pinky/red lip colour really brightens the whole look  & adds a touch of fun to her otherwise minimal look.

Red, Pink or Coral, what’s your favourite bold lip colour?

I myself am a coral girl!

Thanksgiving Products!

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

The LA Team began our day with a little Thanksgiving celebration of our own to see what products our girls were most thankful for this year.

Sarah – Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

The claims Clarins make for Flash Balm are that it brightens and tightens your skin, erasing the signs of fatigue and stress.

It’s intended to be a ‘pick me up’ product and they say that it will instantly restore a ‘fresh, revived, beautiful appearance’. It also claims to be able to minimise fine lines due to its combination of ingredients – olive extract, Witch Hazel and micro algae, which gently tighten skin. “My skin just feels amazing after using this, it’s definitely my product of the year!”

Deirdre – Urban Decay Naked Eye shadow Palette

This palette contains twelve shades–eight are incredibly neutral, but four pack a little–much welcome–colour punch. The palette also contains a double-ended eyeliner – ‘Zero’- which is your basic creamy black with a near-matte finish. “You can use this palette everyday, the colours suit all occasions”

Gill – Avalon Lip Balm

A soothing Lip Balm that provides effective free radical defence with Vitamins C and E plus nourishing, nutrient-rich, organic plant oils and waxes effectively protect against drying and chapping for soft, smooth lips. “This is the only lip-balm I have found that keeps my lips in good condition all winter”

Amy – Dermalogica active moist

This sheer, easy-to-apply, oil-free formula contains Silk Amino Acids and a unique combination of plant extracts to help smooth and improve the skin’s texture. “This is my favourite moisturiser, it goes on so well & sinks into the skin. It’s a great base for make-up”

Siobhán – MAC Vanilla Pigment

This is the perfect, slightly pearly but not glittery highlight! In the tub, Vanilla comes across as a shimmery off-white colour with gold sparkles. However, on the skin, it transforms into a shimmery duo-chrome fleshy toned light gold and light pink. “I use this every day, it has so many uses!”

Krissie – Benefit Coralista blusher

A warm coral-pink powder that brightens up your complexion & smells great too! It’s described as a “coral pink sheen.” I think this colour is flattering on so many skin tones especially light to medium, but works amazing as a coral highlighter for darker skin tones.

Orla – MAC Crème Cup Lipstick

This is a neutral, milky-pink colour that has become a hot favourite to create that soft baby pink lip.
For me, I already love the lipstick just by hearing the name. Crème Cup sounds so cute and deliciously sweet!
