Module 3 Work Experience at L’Oreal by Eleanor Magan

Friday, February 12th, 2010

loreal-fashion-show-002When I was told we would be doing our first work experience, I was excited.  Then we were told it would be an event for L’oreal I was a whole lot more excited, I mean all of us have grown up watching the adverts of Jen Aniston glowing skin, Penelope Cruz amazing eyes and Cheryl Cole glossy crowning glory and we have all looked in the mirror at one stage or another flicked our hair and batted our eyelids and siad those famous words, “Because we’re worth it!”

But then the nerves,it was my first make up job, I didnt know what to expect, all these questions started swirling in  my head, “what would it be like?”, “What do I wear?, “What if I mess up?, “What do I say?”,  these were reassurely answered for me by my tutor, but on the day I was still nervous, but good nervous!

When we arrived, we set up our stations. We were told the event was a hair demonstration for L’oreal called an “evening of colour”, the hairstylists were creating two looks each,so we were briefed by the hairstylists on the look they wanted to achieve, I was asked to create an evening look with smokey eyes and a nude lip, so I got to work. Suddenly everything I was taught over the last few weeks was coming in to practise from choice of product and colour to making someone feel comfortable and complimenting a person face and colouring and style.   It was a great feeling transforming a model, there was a buzz in the air, it was exciting there was people milling around, I enjoyed watching the looks come together and seeing my work on stage I felt very proud, I finally felt like a make-up artist!
