Course description:

At LA Make-Up Academy we are delighted to introduce our new Fashion Design Course. This course is highly intensive, taught by a host of internationally acclaimed fashion designers, who have the best knowledge and know how in order to teach you how succeed as a fantastic designer. This amazing course in fashion designing and pattern cutting will also show you how to develop your ideas into individual, inspiring creations.

You will enjoy ‘LA Tea & Cake’ seminars throughout the course, where we invite a leading light in the industry to tell their story and how it can help you.  These are the people that ma y employ you on your path as a fashion designer! They offer the latest in industry techniques and also advice on how to get your career as a fashion designer off the ground.  Your final piece creations will be presented on graduation day that will include a photoshoot for your essential portfolio.  

Topics covered:

Throughout the course students will:

●      Design, cut patterns and make up to two of their own pieces.

●      Develop mood boards

●      Experiment with fabric

●      Understand and Research the Design Process

●      Learn fashion Illustration

●      Design using model and draping techniques on the stand

●      Select appropriate fabrics for design development

●      Learn about pattern cutting, laying & sizing

●      Discover how to build a fashion collection that is well balanced and innovative

●      Gain an essential guide to the fashion business and the possibility of an Internship on completion of the course (by LA approval only)

What do I need to bring for the course?

●      A camera (digital if possible)

●      dressmaking pins

●      fabric scissors

●      A3 layout pad x 2

●      fine black fiber tip pens

●      magic marker

●      
glue stick

Graduate with:

An La Make-Up Certificate in Fashion Design

Course duration:

Full Time - 8 Weeks, Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm

Part time - 24 weeks (6 Months plus additional weekend wo rkshops/work experience)

Course cost: 

Full cost is €2,500, however there is an interview application for this course. After your successful interview a deposit of €1,000 is required to secure your place on the course and the remainder can be paid in installments during the duration of the course.  You will be required to bring a mood board to the interview and also have knowledge of colour.
