Maurice Stein



Maurice Stein gained his start as the owner of a hair salon in San Marino, California. With an interest and talent in make-up artistry, he was persuaded to join Columbia Studios in 1962. Little did Maurice Stein know that he was taking his first step toward becoming one of Hollywood's most revered artists.

Maurice has been in the make-up artist industry for over 40 years. Maurice has worked on over 200 film and television projects and more than 4,000 commercials.

Not only is Maurice a superstar make-up artist but also the founder of Cinema Secrets, which offers a wide range of services from major studios, make-up and hair stylists in all areas of make-up, prosthetics, supplies, wigs and hair products.

Maurice Stein has worked on an extensive list of Hollywood films such as The Funny Girl with Barbara Streisand, M*A*S*H, Friday the 13th, the original Star Trek series, The Flying Nun with newcomer Sally Fields, Laugh-In,
The Love Boat, Soap, and most notably, Maurice Stein was part of the Academy Award-winning team of make-up artists for the original release of Planet of the Apes.

Maurice believes a good make-up artist becomes a great make-up artist when "one goes to a school that allows you to have the best teachers available in your area". (IMATS, 2009)
