Siobhan Harper Ryan is an amzing artist and I feel so honored to have been taugfht by one of the industries most sought after TV & Film Artist. Testimonial - Beauty Therapy
Stacey Downey - Beauty Therapy
I am currently sitting the part time Beauty Specialist course. Coming to the end of my course I can really see how LA Make Up Academy was definately the right choice in college to study at. The extras that LA Make Up Academy offer are very beneficial to my beauty career so far, as not many beauticians leave a college qualified in so many extra treatments that are all so relevent to the working beauty world. LA focus on what's new and what's going to really stand by you and train you to be a confident beauty therapist. The 6 weeks we trained in Make Up was a great insight into the world of Make-Up and gave me the foundations I needed to begin building my career. The beauty course itself was very intense and is a big commitment but all the hard work pays off when you are able to offer such a wide variety of treatments at a very high standard.

Module 2 - Shauna Langan
I know that the course has been around for a while and it has a reputable name. It was professional and the academy works with well known names.
My favourite part of the course had to be the learning techniques from the really experienced tutors, using products from all the leading cosmetic houses and the friendly and fun atmosphere.
I loved picking up different styles from each tutor, they were all very approachable and full of information.
This course has changed things immensely for me, I feel this course has improved my confidence and has given me the desire to go further. I would love to do as much as possible now that I have completed Module 2, such as bridal work, magazine photoshoots and maybe teaching in the future.
The tutors were all wonderful, especially Emma and Laura.
I would definitely recommend anyone interested in a career in make-up to go for it if its something you are interested in.

Laura Wood, TV presenter
I remember the first time I had my make-up done by LA Make-Up Academy. I was about to go and shoot my first live presenting the ' TV Now Awards' and was unbelievably nervous. I was rushing around town trying to get everything sorted and arrived to the academy a little late and very flustered.
I was greeted by the girls with a glass of bubbly when I arrived and their friendly and professional approach and great ideas on how to create a good look for me ensured my nerves disappeared very quickly and I left there feeling and looking fantastic with make-up that lasted the entire evening. I have been going there to get my make-up done before a shoot and for any special occasions ever since.
Student Short Film Work Experience - Mary Maguire
"I cant thank you enough for helping us out with our Film over the last two days.
I have never met such wonderful young ladies and so dedicated to their work. They were on the set before anyone and had their make-up room
set-up and ready for the actors. And they were the last to leave the theatre. Real professionals and a pleasure to work with.
The LA Academy should be proud of their students. I have been singing your praises all over the place and people have shown
genuine interest in your work."

Module 2 (21st February 2011)
I'd like to thank you all at LA Make up for making Module 2 everything I thought it would be and more.
I'd especially like to thank Kristoff, Chris and Michelle for their teachings, each one had a different technique and way of teaching but all helped me more than I could say.
I never thought I could learn so much in only 2 weeks, so again a big thank you from me, and I'll definitely be recommended LA Make Up to anyone who will listen.
Kindest regards

Work Experience in Module 3
I am a student in Module 3 and last Wednesday 18/11/09 we got to go on work
experience! We got to go to Toni & Guy on South William Street.
We arrived at Toni & Guy at 11.15am and introduced ourselves, we then set up our work areas! At the beginning i was nervous, we had to do make up on 2 models each, but once i started it went really well and it was great to put everything we learned into practice. Everybody was really nice and made us feel really welcome and at ease. I really enjoyed my work experience and I think its really great that LA Make-Up give students the opportunity to put their training into practice!
Emma Bidwell - Module 3, November 2009
Module 2 - Maria Campbell
LA is very professional and the team of girls are lovely, very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed every part of the course. The tutors were all very friendly and helpful and I found Emma Woods and Laura Kinney truly inspiring. This course has made me realise the importance of make-up and the reasons why we use certain products. I really want to work on a make-up counter and free lance. I really recommend LA Academy to anyone interested in pursuing a career in make-up, they are great, professional and the open door policy is fantastic :-)

Module 2 - Laura Duncan
Tutors are professional and friendly and give good direction. We had a large choice of make-up products to choose from. Through the course my confidence built up everyday by working on different people. I got to learn so much more about make-up application and different products. My favourite part of the course had to be the photoshoot. I now know this is what I want to do as my career, I want to go into retail and counterwork or bridal. The options are endless :-)

Work Experience with Toni & Guy
I did my work experience in Toni & Guy last week. As we are only in our 4th week in Module 3 it was nerve wrecking as I have never done anything like this before. I didnt know what to expect. We were working to a brief so i knew what I had to do. When arriving my expectations were things I have only dreamt
of, it was becoming reality. There was a great atmosphere and buzz. It was great working with people in the same industry and outside the industry. I thought it was a great experience and the confidence I got from doing it was great. My favourite thing from the day was meeting such a great team, especially the Toni & Guy Team and it was very rewarding when they loved the make-up I did. So I ended with having a great day and on a high. It was brill!
Laurraine Murphy - Module 3, November 2009
Orlaith Farrel and her experience with Module 3
ORLAITH FARRELL
"I enrolled in the two month Module 3 course in LA Make-Up Academy after my sister enjoyed the course so much. She brought me into model for her a couple of times and i decided that the course was for me. Fridays are always fun! The photo shoots are stressful and enjoyable at the same time, and one of my portfolio pictures was since used in the DIT magazine.
My favorite aspect of the course was definitely fantasy an high fashion looks, but the diversity it offers is great, I can do everything from groom to geisha ! I also went on work experience during and after the course to events such as The Rimmel 'Search for a Super Model' shows, hair shows in Vicar Street and short films. The work experience for me was fantastic, it gave me the opportunity to meet people who have hired me since as well as building my confidence.
In the past couple of months I have been hired for all sorts of jobs such as weddings, television pilots and VIP nights for a major beauty brand. Also in Hotpress annual Una (my sister) and I were the make-up artists for an eight shot eighties spread for Playstation.
I have found my vocation in life and through the raining and skills that I was taught at the academy, I know that I will soon get to exactly where i always wanted to be."
Suzanne Sheerin
Temporary Controller, Seyner Benson
"I chose the four week - Module 1 course at the LA Make- up Academy as it was recommended to me as a great all round make-up course. i wanted to study make-up from both a personal and profession prospective. On a personal level I wanted to learn the 'tricks of the trade' and as a recruit within the beauty industry on a professional level, I wanted to gain experience in the field.
The course at LA Make-Up Academy lived up to its excellent reputation. The variety of tutors and their experience was second to none and now i feel very confident in every aspect of make-up application.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in make-up or those wishing to pursue or further their career in this field. The team at LA Make-Up Academy are extremely professional, helpful and ensure their doors are always open."
Caroline Lehane, MODULE 3
Having decided I wanted to become a make-up artist I did a lot of research on the internet to find the best course. I loved the sound of LA Make-Up Academy and when I phoned I was invited in to have a look around and to sit in on an airbrushing class. I was really impressed with what I saw and signed up for Module 3.
The course began with the basics which was great as I didn’t have any past make-up experience. We acquired a great knowledge of top end products on the market as we used make-up supplied by the Academy for our classes.
The tutors were excellent. They are all working make-up artists who brought their individual styles and techniques to the classses. We also got to have a look at their own professional kits and discuss their favourite products that they use in their work.
In addition to our classes, we were offered a fantastic range of work experience. In my first week I accompanied a tutor to RTE Studios where she did make-up for an actress appearing on the Late Late Show. We did make-up for the Dublin finalists of Miss Ireland in Lillies Bordello, several photo shoots and fashion shows & I even got a credit in Hotpress!
Since finishing my course I have had a great variety of work both at events including Trinny and Susannah’s ‘Style in the City’and the ‘Ultimate Girls Day Out’, and one on one lessons and applications etc.
I got so much out of the course, not just training and skills but contacts, advice and lots of encouragement. I would highly recommend LA Make-Up Academy!
Module 3 Testimonial in Slovak by Martina Hastova
Volam sa Martina, som zo slovenska a o LA make up academy som sa dozvedela z internetu. Pre make up kurz som sa rozhodla pretoze vzdy som sa zaujimala o makeup, a bol to moj sen byt make up artist.

Module 3 - Cuong Ly
My name is Cuong and I have just completed the module 3 course.
Heather Kelly - Module 3
I was looking for a change of direction in my career and decided that make-up artistry was the way forward for me. After doing some research it became very clear that LA Make-up had an oustanding reputation within the industry and was the place for me to train. I enrolled on the Module 3 8 week course and within the first couple of hours I knew I had made the right choice.
The course is very intense and covers all aspects of make-up from the basics of foundation choice to high fashion to special effects to airbrushing. The tutors are leading professionals working in the industry who are happy to share their tips and advice for the students to succeed in the future. Indeed some of the tutors are past students who have gone on to have very successful careers in Ireland and abroad.
My favourite element of the course was the beauty make-up side of things, from bridal to catwalk to trend to fantasy and everything in between. Advice I would give future students is do lots of research before, during and after classes to get the most out of each class and always remember it is only make-up if it does not work out you can take it off and start again!
I hope to gain more experience by working on counter with one of the many great make-up brands in Ireland and also build up a freelance business.
Heather Kelly - December 2010
Module 3 - Brigh Egan
Walking through the doors of LA Make-Up Academy with a few makeup brushes under one arm and a blank notebook under the other, I embarked on my new journey with LA on the Module 3 course as a budding makeup artist with high hopes and enthusiasm. My high expectations were met immediately as I was welcomed at the doors and shown to my new classroom, the comfort, elegance, modern appearance and the overall stylish environment.
The tutors instilled confidence in me as well as an artistic flair they inspired in me and the encouragement they gave me throughout every step of my training, made me look forward to walking into their classes every day. As well the extremely high level of tuition and training they provided, it was not only their positivity and upbeat fun approach to learning but up to date techniques used in the industry that makes me always look back on my time here with fond memories and a smile.
I was also given the opportunity to work with top photographers in the industry to start to build my portfolio, something that is essential to any makeup artist. This important hands-on experience, I was also able to develop as I was given the chance to work outside the classroom, on location, assisting some of the LA Pro Team on photo shoots. This was incredibly exciting and I even got to see my work and name printed on the glossy pages of ‘Hot Press’ and ‘Kiss’ magazines!
Since leaving the Academy I’ve already had an amazing journey as a makeup artist, I enjoyed some time developing my skills as a freelance artist. I then began my career in London started in the prestigious store ‘Harrods’ where I secured a job as a makeup artist with Laura Mercier Cosmetics. Working in Harrods, each day brought something new and exciting, celebrities and incredibly famous people came to Harrods every day and on occasion you would find yourself assisting a customer with her makeup that you had just been reading about in a magazine that morning! During my time with the brand I had the unbelievable experience of assisting Laura Mercier herself at a private engagement in Harrods, which as a makeup artist was something I could have only dreamed of! I then joined the fabulous team at MAC Cosmetics in Harrods!
All these fabulous experiences I have had and the artist that I have become I credit to the team of people that trained me, looked after me and encouraged me. My time there was invaluable and I loved every moment. The glitz, the glamour, even being covered in glitter, being transformed into an old lady, seeing myself as a geisha and being made up with black eyes, bruises and a beard!
